This project is significant to me because it is one of the first 3D models I made that I was happy with the result. My primary goal here was to figure out a workflow for 3D modeling, keeping things as simple as I can. For this reason I made a point of completely ignoring things like surface detailing or technical aspects like uv mapping or topology. Instead I focused as much as possible on learning how to sculpt/model simple clean basic forms first, with the intention of learning about the more technical aspects of 3D modeling for future projects.
My goals for this project were the following
- Develop a simple, reliable workflow that I can use to create a wide variety of hard surface objects
- Learn how to sculpt clean forms
- Learn how to take a 2D image and translate it into a 3D model accurately
The reference I used was the following
- Book: Human Anatomy for Artists: The Elements of Form by Eliot Goldfinger
- life sized skeleton model that I had bought
